The vaccination process will begin with the arrival of the first 40,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine against Covid-19.
According to what was reported by the Panamanian government, the pharmaceutical company will send the vaccine doses to Panama between January 18 and 25, the exact date will be known five days before arrival.
The execution of the strategy will be divided into four phases:
- In the first phase of vaccination, the priority groups will be Health officials, security forces, and the population over 16 with disabilities.
- In the second phase, adults over 60 years of age and patients with chronic diseases will be included, explains the Ministry of Health.
- In the third phase of vaccination, this will be applied to the population of indigenous peoples and those with difficult access.
- Lastly, for the fourth phase, a digital registration form has been implemented for the vaccination of the general population.
Panama has committed US$ 56 million to purchase 5.5 million doses of vaccines.
