Panama plans to purchase about 5.5 million doses of vaccines against Covid-19

The first doses are expected to arrive before March 2021, the rest would arrive in May and June. In order to contain the virus in the country, it is necessary to apply the vaccine to at least 70% of the population.

The doctor and member of the Covid-19 Vaccine Consortium, Eduardo Ortega, mentioned Panama has agreements with three companies: Pzifer, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca to acquire the vaccine as part of a bilateral negotiation.

In November, the government of the Republic of Panama authorized the signing of agreements with the company Pfizer Inc., for the acquisition of vaccines against SARS-COV2.
